Collecting vinyl

There is something very special about vinyl records... I've been buying more than I can afford lately, but it makes me happy so why not? I'd choose an awesome LP or kick-ass 7" with beautiful artwork above a new pair of shoes any day :)

Downed

Next week is Valentine's Day. Great. Another reminder that I am all alone and very very miserable. But whatever, it's nothing but a made-up holiday for consumerist whores who know nothing about love or pain or.... err sorry got a bit heated. It's true though. Anyway I was thinking about making a sad-and-lonely mixtape to listen to all day and allow myself to wallow a bit. Problem is, my mind is absolutely blank and I can't come up with a single song to put on it (obvious choices like Love Will Tear Us Apart or any Smiths song are not allowed). Anyone got any suggestions? Maybe some nice moaning 90's emo. or perhaps some good ol' Bright Eyes. In other news; I hate my fucking job and I have realised that I've become the disillusioned wage slave I always promised myself not to become. Great!

Pavement = Rad

Pavement, Pavement... on of my all time favourite bands. The thing about Pavement is that when I listen to them I get that "everything is alright" feeling. While I love tearing my heart apart with depressing emo shit, there is something so purely likable about Pavement that often makes me want to listen to little else. Everybody should own at least one Pavement record, preferably Crooked Rain or Terror Twilight. Or Brighten The Corners. And the Spit On A Stranger EP. If "Harness Your Hopes" doesn't make you smile you have probably lost all sense of humour and should seriously consider suicide. So go on, go down your local indie record shop, stock up on Pavement, and watch (or hear) your broken heart heal, one song at the time.

In other news, I've just re-discovered the Survival Sickness record by The (International) Noise Conspiracy. It's not Refused but Dennis sure has a knack at writing good pop songs. So while you're in the record shop, you might as well stock up on some T(I)NC too.
